All About Growing and Harvesting Peas

Peas are one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Either sow them directly in early spring, or start them indoors and they will reward you with an abundance of “fruit” or pea pods. In addition, regular harvesting encourages them to produce more pods.

However, if you’re new to gardening, it may be difficult to identify when they are ready for harvest.  Based on the type of peas you’re growing, there are different signs to look out for.

Also, pea plants are not meant to only grow during the cool days of spring. Depending if the varieties you are growing are early, mid or late season peas, you may be able to grow peas all the way into summer.

In my latest video, I discuss what peas need to grow well.  I also cover the different type of peas, when to harvest them and the best way to do so, to prevent any damage to vines.

Happy Gardening!
