A black-seeded, open-pollinated edamame bean from Japan. Grow this instead of regular edamame beans and you will have something that is not available at sushi restaurants or grocery stores. Flavour of these beans is superior to regular edamame, being richer and sweeter.
Beautiful dark green pods are filled with 3 beans each and grow on plants that reach 3 feet in height. No trellising required.
Harvest while pods are immature and just filling out with seeds for edamame beans. Beans will be a mix of green with black colouring. Leave on the plant to mature and dry and you will have black soy beans. Since this variety is open-pollinated, save a few seeds and grow your own again in future.
Plant seeds directly in the garden after the final frost date. Space seeds 6 inches apart and 1 inch deep. Packets contain 25 seeds.
Days to Maturity: 80 days
Packet size: approximately 25 seeds
Germination rate - 80%
