A traditional Romano bean from Italy.

Vigorous 7-foot tall vines will produce long, green, flat pods. If left to mature, white seeds will develop within. Harvest when pods reach 10 inches long and before pods begin to fill out. At this stage, pods will remain stringless and may be eaten as snap beans. Once seeds begin to fill out inside the pods, you are better off leaving the pods to mature for the white beans within.

My favourite way to prepare these beans is to harvest them when flat and slightly immature. Cut them into 1-inch pieces and saute with other garden veggies, like zucchini, onions, garlic, tomatoes and eggplant. They can also be roasted in the oven with onions, tomatoes and garlic. Either way, they are delicious!

Harvest regularly, blanch, and freeze the excess to encourage a continuous flush of flat, delicious beans. If you’ve grown these beans before, you’ll know how fantastic they are!

This variety holds a permanent location in my garden, as I couldn’t imagine a year without them.

Shipping Information

Canadian Shipping

Shipping is calculated at the time of order and is based on the number of seed packets per order. All packages are shipped through Canada Post, and pricing for packages containing seeds are the same for addresses across Canada.

Larger items are calculated by weight and destination and will vary by province.

US Shipping

US seed orders are made at the buyer’s own risk, and we cannot guarantee delivery. We will receive and ship orders but cannot account for the actions of foreign customs, which is the reason for this non-guarantee. Unfortunately, I do not offer phytosanitary certificates, so if the seeds are confiscated or destroyed at the border, your order will not be refunded or reissued.

Non-seed orders are calculated by weight and destination and vary by state.

We cannot ship orders outside of North America.
