Sucrine lettuce (Lactuca sativa), also known as 'Little Gem' is a cross between romaine and butterhead. Thick, wavy, buttery leaves and a crunchy midrib are delicious and have a hint of nutty flavour.

As leaves grow, they develop into small to medium-sized, elongated heads, similar to romaine in shape and structure. Harvest individual leaves as they grow, or wait until heads form and harvest by cutting at the base of the plant.

The thick nature of the leaves give this variety good heat tolerance, making it a wise choice for summer growing.

Growing Information:

Lettuce is hardy to cold temperatures, and may be sown directly in your spring garden a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks before the final frost date. Feel free to start seeds indoors at least 6 weeks before the final frost date and transplant to the garden 3 to 4 weeks later.

Space seedlings at least 6-inches apart, in all directions. Sow seeds every 2 to 3 weeks for a continuous crop.

Canadian Shipping
Shipping is calculated at the time of order and is based on the number of seed packets per order. All packages are shipped through Canada Post and pricing is the same for addresses across Canada.

Larger items are calculated by weight and destination.

International Orders
International seed orders are made at the buyer’s own risk and we cannot guarantee delivery. We will receive and ship orders, but cannot account for the actions of foreign customs, which is the reason for this non-guarantee. Unfortunately, I do not offer phytosanitary certificates so in the rare chance the seeds are confiscated or destroyed at the border, your order will not be refunded or reissued.

Non-seed orders are calculated by weight and destination.
