Probably the most beautiful dry bean grown in my kitchen garden, the Haudenosaunee Skunk bean would win first place!

Tall, vigorous vines produce abundant pods filled with stunning black and white speckled and striped flat beans. Grown for centuries by the Haudenosaunee and Abenaki farming nations of Northeastern North America, it is well adapted to northern, short-season gardens.

They are also known as Flagg or Chester Bean. Be sure to provide a tall trellis to support its growth.

This variety is better suited for dry beans than for fresh snap beans.

Growing Information:

Sow beans 1 to 2 weeks before the average last frost date. Check out my Seed Starting Calculator for specific planting dates for your area.

Harvest when beans have filled out within pods and the pods are brown and dry.

Planting depth: 1 inch
Spacing: 3 to 4 inches apart

Provide a good support structure, as vines are indeterminate and will grow long and abundant.

Shipping Information

Canadian Shipping

Shipping is calculated at the time of order and is based on the number of seed packets per order. All packages are shipped through Canada Post, and pricing for packages containing seeds are the same for addresses across Canada.

Larger items are calculated by weight and destination and will vary by province.

US Shipping

US seed orders are made at the buyer’s own risk, and we cannot guarantee delivery. We will receive and ship orders but cannot account for the actions of foreign customs, which is the reason for this non-guarantee. Unfortunately, I do not offer phytosanitary certificates, so if the seeds are confiscated or destroyed at the border, your order will not be refunded or reissued.

Non-seed orders are calculated by weight and destination and vary by state.

We cannot ship orders outside of North America.
