Echinacea purpurea

Purple Coneflowers Echinacea seeds produce plants that are long-blooming from July to October.

At home as a border feature or in the vegetable garden. Bright mauve-pink petals surrounding a distinctive rich plum center cone. Pick petals and add to tea. Dig up roots at the end of summer or in the early fall, clean well, dry and use for tea.

Sow 5mm (¼") deep. May bloom in the first year if planted in early March, but it’s their third year that is really spectacular. These perennial coneflowers attract hoverflies and parasitoid wasps, so they’re useful for pest control in companion plantings. Echinacea plants are sturdy and drought tolerant once established, so they are useful in xeriscaping.

Plant height to 80cm (32"). Perennial

To learn more about Echinacea, it’s uses, medicinal benefits and how to grow and brew your own delicious cup of tea, check out my book, "Tea Gardening for Beginners”. It was released on July 26, 2022, published by Rockridge Press, a division of Callisto Media. Signed copies are available through my shop here.

For specific planting dates in your area, check out my Seed Starting Calculator. It will help you to plan for your first to last seed sowings of the year.

Canadian Shipping
Shipping is calculated at the time of order and is based on the number of seed packets per order. All packages are shipped through Canada Post and pricing is the same for addresses across Canada.

Larger items are calculated by weight and destination.

International Orders
International seed orders are made at the buyer’s own risk and we cannot guarantee delivery. We will receive and ship orders, but cannot account for the actions of foreign customs, which is the reason for this non-guarantee. Unfortunately, I do not offer phytosanitary certificates so in the rare chance the seeds are confiscated or destroyed at the border, your order will not be refunded or reissued.

Non-seed orders are calculated by weight and destination.
