This variety first came to me from my friend Karen of @hilltophyggehomestead on Instagram. Saved by her grandfather for over 40 years and found in his possessions over 30 years later, the seeds were germinated, plants were grown out and seed saving continued.

Medium-size fruit have an old-fashioned flavour that is perfect for canning.  First introduced in 1908 by Walter P. Stokes seed house, it is still a classic today.

Growing Information:

Start tomato seeds indoors a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks before the final frost date. Please refer to my Seed Starting Calculator for specific planting dates for your planting area.

Tomatoes grow best in full sun and require consistent moisture, in order to avoid blossom end rot.

Transplant outdoors after all risk of frost has passed. Space your plants at least 2 to 3 feet apart, depending on how well you stake them. Stay on top of removing sucker stems.

Plants are indeterminate and require proper staking in order to support tall vines. Remove suckers to encourage growth of the main central stem.

Days to Maturity: 75

Price: $4.50

Packet size: 20 seeds

Germination rate: 99%

Canadian Shipping
Shipping is calculated at the time of order and is based on the number of seed packets per order. All packages are shipped through Canada Post and pricing is the same for addresses across Canada.

Larger items are calculated by weight and destination.

International Orders
International seed orders are made at the buyer’s own risk and we cannot guarantee delivery. We will receive and ship orders, but cannot account for the actions of foreign customs, which is the reason for this non-guarantee. Unfortunately, I do not offer phytosanitary certificates so in the rare chance the seeds are confiscated or destroyed at the border, your order will not be refunded or reissued.

Non-seed orders are calculated by weight and destination.
